The London Design Museum reopened its doors on Friday with the exhibition “Electronic Music: From Kraftwerk to The Chemical Brothers. Like many other exhibitions, it was supposed to open in March, but the coronavirus epidemic changed organizers’ plans. The goal of the exhibit is to show the history of electronic music, from the first synthesizer in 1901 to the latest video design gimmicks.

“This is music made with electricity, and we’ve tried to trace its development through time, with a focus on innovation and innovators – people who created instruments and electrical devices, thereby changing the design of homes, offices and places of recreation. Electricity has influenced music, who would have thought!” – says exhibition curator Gemma Curtin.

According to the curators, the development of technology has been the driving force behind electronic music, which directly resonates with one of its key themes – the poetization of the fruits of technological progress.

The exhibition will close in February 2021. Among other things, it will feature an immersive visual installation Experience room by Smith and Lyall, designers who worked with The Chemical Brothers. Those who have seen it have described it as “stunning.
