Here we are starting another season full of music and good times. Following the  release of our upcoming album ” Palenke vs. Palenque” there will be a series of shows around the world. So Palenkeros have your ears ready and your dancing shoes shining because here we come with all the energy for this 2012.

Now comes Fall, with interesting things for Palenke Soutlribe and friends. First, we received the actual CDs of “Palenke vs. Palenque“. We’re really proud of the whole team that worked on this album and we can’t wait to share it with you all. We are still currently negotiating distribution deals (you know how it is).

Now we are about to start a mini tour. For the first time, we will be presenting Palenke Soultribe in Peru. We will have 3 shows ( expect details) at the hottest venues in Lima. On our way back we will have a show Nov 3 rd in Mexico D.F. at Caradura along with amazing electro-rock duo Los Impostors.

One of the wonders of the world, Machu Picchu, is currently celebrating a 100 years of universality, and, in its honor, an officially selected Palenke Soultribe song that bridges its wondrous past to its beloved place in modern history.

In 1911, Machu Picchu was first brought to worldwide attention by Hiram Bingham, an American historian who while searching for another Incan city stumbled upon one of the planet’s most breathtaking sights.  Fortunately for the world, this finding was made public and now the whole of humanity treasures and feasts in its majestic beauty.

Today, Palenke Soultribe is proud to share its official selection as the band for the commemorative video the tribute for this monument at the forefront of human ingenuity and immeasurable historical value.  Palenke’s reverence of the beats of the past along with its modern infusion of futuristic sounds is perfectly suited to represent, enliven and carry on the homage to the powers of the Incan Empire and the beauty of the Andean mountains.

Many theories abound about the Incan archeological site but one thing is clear: today this site stands as a testament to the spirit and capacity of the human heart.

On the blue side, at the time we were playing, el Maestro Joe Arroyo was fighting for his life. He finally passed away few hours later, leaving us with a great sadness in our hearts. He was one of the most important figures in Colombian and World music and a big inspiration for Palenke Soultribe. His music and voice will live on forever.

Last month we traveled to Atlanta for a DJ set and a live show. See photos here from our DJ Set in Atlanta, and live show in Augusta. Following up on that trip, we returned home to Los Angeles and had a fantastic turnout at the House of Blues L.A., where we had the privilege of working with a film crew to shoot a behind-the-scenes Palenke interview, which is finally available on YouTube. (Special thanks to Casey, Saro & Steve for your hard work and patience with us!)

If you listen carefully in the House of Blues video, you’ll hear some new Palenke music. Good news, we are just about finished with the new album we mentioned last month, Palenke vs. Palenque. We’re now in the mastering process and in discussions with several distributors. Expect an announcement once that’s available.

And finally, our new website is up! Go to palenkesoultribe.com to see what we’re working on. One of the features we’re happy to add is the ability to read the site in either English or Spanish. With our fan base in South America, and new fans growing here in the United States we want to make sure we’re communicating with all of you! The new site will allow for more fan interaction and make the updates easier. We will also begin blogging more updates, as we expand our touring. Please let us know what you think!
